Te Mara Estate is a family owned vineyard dedicated to producing elegant and appealing cool climate red and white wines from Central Otago, New Zealand. 

Husband and wife team David Pratt and Janiene Bayliss Pratt purchased land for the vineyard in 2003. A 5-year plan of progressive development allows experience from initial plantings to adjust which varieties and clones to plant during later years. 

Central Otago is a visually stunning region of New Zealand that offers all the best for which New Zealand has become renowned; a clean, clear, pure environment but with the added dimension of a truly continental climate. Add to this low fertility gravel based soils, hot days and cool nights during summer and a typically cool autumn, all the factors are in place to create wines of superb quality.

Te Mara Estate vineyard extends to 20 hectares, located on the terraces between Lake Dunstan and Mt Pisa, not far from the 45th parallel. The land here is flat with low fertility alluvial sandy soils interspersed with extensive gravel pans rising to the surface across much of the vineyard.
